Welcome to my professional site! I am an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at Kingsborough Community College, the City University of New York. I have a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Seton Hall University, with a background in rehablitation psychology and geriatric/neuropsychology, and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University. Prior to my full time academic position, I held adjunct faculty positions at Queensborough Community College, as well as in the graduate counseling psychology Masters and Doctoral programs at both Fordham and Seton Hall University. I also served for four years as the Director of Counseling and Health Services at Kingsborough. I currently teach the following courses: Introduction to Psychology, Life-Span Development, and Abnormal Psychology, and have taught Psychology of Gender in previous semesters. Additionally, I have been involved in teaching in the ESL Learning Community program since I began in my academic position almost 15 years ago.
My research interests vary and include teaching and learning (specifically practices and issues in the classroom), as well as clinical issues pertaining to motherhood, ADHD, and infertility. At the present time, I am involved in a CURE Project, via the INTREPiD program, in one of my Introdiction to Psychology sections, investigating whether or not students can detect AI verus human written work. I am also in the midst of a research project on community college students’ experiences and uses of AI. My service is diverse ranging from serving on my department’s Personnel and Budget Committee, to serving consecutively each year as either a marshall or name reader at Commencement, along with past service on hiring committees, co-coordinating the Safe Zone program, being a mentor to students via the Faculty- Student Mentoring Program and co-coordinating this program. I love making an impact on my students, and learning from them as well! When I am not working, I spend my spare time doing anything active: Running, rollerblading, biking, hiking, and playing pickleball, as well as cooking and baking.
